I Dont Get It

I don’t get it and I don’t know if I am even free to talk about it. Socialism is moving, has been moving, very quickly on western economies. This is not new, it was seen in the last century, before my time.

Socialism vs. Capitalism

Forget the manifestos. Forget the slogans. Skip the left wing vs right wing. Get rid of all of this new speak that bogs everything down.

When you strip away the endless debates over political labels, the issue isn’t about ideology—it is fundamentally about resource allocation and capacity.

• Socialism is the government looking after all of the needs of the people, and the people looking to the government to supply all of their needs.
• Capitalism is the people looking after all of the needs of the people, and the people looking to themselves to supply all of their needs.

You may disagree with this simplistic definition and say that it hides far too much. You may say that it is wrong and flawed. You can probably write so many words to discredit this. But at its roots, it is this simple.

In the end, it comes down to “Who is in charge?”

What Works?

In my opinion, a better working system is based on capitalism, with a taste of socialism. It does not matter which system you embrace, someone has to pay for it.

Socialism pays for it through taxation of the people. Capitalism pays for it through the profits gained in the free market.

When a society reaches a point where the tax base is squeezed dry, yet the demand for state-provided solutions keeps rising, the math simply stops working. Right now I see that the people do not have anything left to give, and the government is setting to give their people nothing. This only leads to famine and anarchy.

What I Do Not Get

That is why I don’t get it. I understand what I see and I don’t like what it means to me. All the political noise and partisan arguing just function as a distraction from a coming arithmetic catastrophe. Yet, we as a people overall, keep voting for this.
